Charlie Castillo, 29, of Bridgeport, turned himself in to Norwalk Police on Monday, Feb. 3 on an active warrant, said Norwalk Police Sgt. Sofia Gulino.

Castillo, whose charges include manslaughter, is being held on a $500,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court later Monday.

According to Gulino, Norwalk police and paramedics responded to a Norwalk home around 4:30 p.m., on Aug. 31, 2019, for a report of an unconscious person.

When police arrived on the scene, the person was rushed to Norwalk Hospital in critical condition. Despite rescue efforts, the victim died later in the day, Gulino said.

The medical examiner later determined that the cause of death was an overdose stemming from the use of cocaine laced with fentanyl.

The Norwalk detective division investigated the case which led them to determine that Castillo had allegedly sold the narcotics to the victim, Gulino said.
